Project Details

Fun Fact: There is no exact number of countries in the world at any given time.

We were asked by NATO to create a custom Flash map that would allow their organization to dynamically populate countries with statistics about the facilities, courses, and exercises they were conducting in that country.  This site was specifically for the NATO Special Operations Headquarters and is currently deployed behind a login.

Through a custom CMS, staff can update this map at any time.  The map is free-flowing and has the ability to work like a globe, spinning 360 degrees.  You can click on any active countries which will intelligently move into position and show details about that country.  Because the application is behind a login, we have provided a demo link below so you can play an early build.

Array
Manageable

The map is completely manageable, and countries can be turned on and off at any time. As NATO operations change, so does the map.

Intelligent Interface

The map does a few things intelligently for extra polish. We allow the use of the scroll wheel to zoom in and out but limit how far in and out a user can zoom. The map also hints and moves as you click countries to stay aligned.
