As one of the largest education groups in the state of Georgia, GAEL represents educational leaders like administrators and principals. It is an umbrella organization for six affiliate organizations that educates all leaders on current political issues that affect educational policies.
GAEL wanted to build a site that had the ability to do several things that were new for us. First, they wanted to pull data from a web product that stored all of their membership and event data that did not readily have an API for us to access. Second, they wanted to integrate their dynamic data throughout the site and have control over it through a custom CMS editor.
To solve the first problem, we worked with the fine folks at eBoard Solutions eBoard Solutions to provide us with an XML-based web service that would allow us to refresh the site data on a nightly basis. The second problem was a little tougher: we built custom plugins for TinyMCE (he famous WYSIWYG editor you see nearly everywhere) which allowed GAEL to drop in little bits of code that would render big things like membership directories, calendars, news feeds, and several other proprietary data points.
