The moment

Born when print stopped fitting.

Ibis Labs was born out of a specific moment: the COVID-era shift away from print. As scientific publishing moved rapidly to digital e-prints, the old ways of distributing peer-reviewed content to healthcare professionals stopped fitting how the world actually worked.

The company formed as a direct response — a way to give publishers a modern, measurable, digital-first method of getting premium scientific content in front of the right audiences, with the analytics to prove it landed. Founded in Atlanta by Chris Bennett, Ibis Labs set out to rebuild scientific distribution for a digital-first world.

The build

Whiteboard to production platform.

Logicbomb Media has been Ibis Labs' contracted technical partner since the beginning — handling the full build while Ibis owns the business and client relationships. We did all of the engineering and product design, working hand in hand with the client to take the idea from a whiteboard to a production platform.

Built on Nuxt and Laravel, the work spanned the entire product: content hosting and secure link delivery, the publisher-facing tooling, and the analytics layer that lets publishers see exactly how their content performs.

Engineering note

Engraffo runs on Nuxt and Laravel — a bespoke build, not a Voix deployment. LBM owns the full engineering and product design; Ibis owns the business and the client relationships. What began as a from-scratch build has matured into a long-term relationship, with LBM now providing ongoing maintenance and retained services as the platform evolves.

Engraffo, the flagship platform, hosts premium content, generates and delivers links, and provides deep analytics for STM — scientific, technical, and medical — publishers and life-science clients. It has since grown into a small family of products, each serving a different part of how scientific content reaches its audience.

The arc

Zero to category leader.

The arc is the point: LBM took Ibis Labs from zero to category leader. Engraffo is now used by the overwhelming majority of major scientific publishers — a near-ubiquitous standard in a specialized, demanding field. It is about as complete a "we built this company's technology from nothing" story as a studio can tell.

What started as a single from-scratch build is now a long-term, retained partnership — two products in the family, and the platform still evolving.
